Na bidýlku Gallery, owner: Karel Tutsch, Václavská 14/16, Brno, 1986 – 2008

The dramaturgy, as selected in the present times, is one of the key reasons why Na bidýlku Gallery became such an exceptional concept. Karel Tutsch observed, with the same level of enthusiasm, both traditional painters and orthodox conceptualists. Such a scope of interest was, indeed, the most swaying aspect of his exhibitions. Na bidýlku Gallery thus featured paintings by Jiří Načeradsky, by Jiří Sopko or by Otakar Slavík together with works of Jiří Kovanda, Ján Mančuška or of Tomáš Hlavina.

However, Tutsch's gallery persona was not remembered only through these untypical points of artistic interest. His gallery continuously provided a platform for the mysterious and the psychedelic expressions of Jiří Petrbok as well as for the meticulous painterly aesthetics of Jan Merta. The work of painters, such as Antonín Střížek or Tomáš Císařovsky, has been Tutsch's source of interest since their student years.

Moreover, he was amazed by the inventive conceptual diversity encapsulated in the work of Jiří David or within the pure vitality of the paintings produced by Jakub Špaňhel. Another aspect which made Tutsch's selection of artists incredibly influential was the number of different generations which presented their work in his gallery. During the first half of 2007, the gallery exhibited artworks by Dalibor Chatrny who, at the time, was eighty-two years old. The following exhibition presented the work of Eva Koťátkova, who is almost sixty years younger. Tutsch thus achieved to activate the interconnection of different generations of artists while taking advice from his friends about new potential talents within the art scene. He provided space for one-time projects such as the three-part presentation produced by Vladimír Kokolia or shows by Marian Palla.
