GUIDE TOUR / THE DAY HAS 86,400 SECONDS
We cordially invite you to the Kabinet T Gallery.
5:00 p.m. / Guided tour of the exhibition - A DAY HAS 86,400 SECONDS
6:00 p.m. / Film lecture with screening - ZLÍN AND METROPOLIS
How did Baťa’s Zlín transform into a Czechoslovak vision of the future?
This lecture with film clips will explore surprising connections between Zlín’s functionalist architecture, 20th-century modernist utopias, and the legendary film Metropolis. It will focus on the image of the city as a machine, fascination with technology, social divisions within society, and why Zlín still resembles the sets of a futuristic film to this day.
The program will include screenings of period materials, film clips, and a commentary on the aesthetics of modernity that shaped the dreams and fears of the last century.
The lecture will be given by Martin Jiroušek, an expert on the poetics of horror in art.
The event will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM as part of the Zlín Film Festival’s accompanying program.
We look forward to seeing you there
